Engineering Program

Lutheran North’s reputation as a leader in Math, Science, and Technology Education has been well documented with more than 65% of graduating seniors receiving a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) endorsement. As students experience up to date technology in classrooms and our one-to-one laptop program, we continue to strive toward increasing excellence in STEM education. Our Honors Engineering Program and STEM Mentornship aim to provide our top students, and ANY Houston area student with experiences to excite and prepare them for exclusive university programs in similar STEM fields.

Engineering Program at North

To be accepted into and remain in Lutheran North’s Honors Engineering Program, students must earn and maintain a 4.0 GPA in his/her math and science courses while being on track to take Advanced Placement courses in both academic areas. In addition, students must take specialized courses and/or participate in activities/events that support and enhance their pursuit. These could include Robotics classes/competitions, the STEM program on campus (sponsored by Quiddity), or a summer camp specific to their area of interest within the engineering field.

As the final and most important piece of the Honors Engineering Program at Lutheran North, students must complete an internship experience totaling 90+ hours inside a company, organization, or university of their choosing. Although students can complete their hours in various organizations, we prefer they remain with one for all 90 hours. More information regarding our internships is available through the Academic Dean.
